Healthcare is one of the most valuable yet one of the most inefficient systems on Earth. A $550 billion industry built for profit, not people. Where your data is sold, your access is limited, and your well-being comes second to revenue.
Just as DeFi redefined ownership in finance, a new movement is emerging to redefine ownership in healthcare, one where people control their own data, benefit from it directly, and participate in an open, intelligent ecosystem. And that’s where MotionDEV comes in.
The Origin Story: From AI to DeSci
Florin’s journey started young, launching his first startup at 19, and later co-founding Humans.ai in 2019, long before AI became a trend. Over 15 years in technology and artificial intelligence gave him the foundation to recognize a massive inefficiency: health data was fragmented, hoarded, and exploited.
“We saw that the health data space was ripe for disruption,” Florin explains.
“To truly drive change, you can’t just integrate someone else’s data - you have to build the capture layer yourself. That’s why we created our own sensors and AI systems from the ground up.”
MotionDEV’s mission was clear: build the full-stack infrastructure for decentralized healthcare, from hardware to AI to blockchain.
Today, that vision is backed by two powerhouses:
- CryptoDATA Tech: a 100+ person engineering company dedicating 15 of its top engineers to MotionDEV.
- Humans.ai: providing AI research and infrastructure support.
Together, they’re developing medical-grade sensors that can capture full-body motion, spinal alignment, and physiological data, transforming it into actionable insights and verifiable onchain datasets.
The Harvard Connection
MotionDEV is helping to shape the academic and ethical foundations of decentralized science. Recently, the project was included in the Harvard “AI for Flourishing & Wellness” cohort, a newly formed department exploring how AI can enhance human well-being. MotionDEV will play a key role in the first cohort’s research, contributing both data infrastructure and onchain models for open collaboration.
“We’re in a unique position to not only build tools but to influence how research itself evolves,” Florin says.
“You can’t have flourishing without health, and you can’t have decentralized health without transparency and collaboration.”
The Four Pillars of MotionDEV
At its core, MotionDEV operates on four interconnected pillars, the foundation of decentralized healthcare:
- Sensors: lightweight, medical-grade wearables that seamlessly capture high-resolution motion and physiological data.
- AI System: a network of multi-agent AI models that turn raw signals into personalized insights - posture, recovery, risk analysis, and wellness optimization.
- Blockchain: anonymized, onchain data with customizable sharing permissions, ensuring users retain ownership and transparency.
- $MDEV Token: the economic glue aligning users, researchers, and developers through incentives, governance, and value distribution.
In practice, users wear the sensors as they go about their day. The data is captured, analyzed, and stored onchain and users are rewarded with $MDEV tokens for contributing anonymized health data to the ecosystem.
From Posture to Performance: The First Proof of Concept
The first MotionDEV prototype focuses on posture - a surprisingly powerful use case.
As Florin explains, posture is a real-time indicator of physical stress, lifestyle quality, and even emotional well-being. It’s also one of the most common yet ignored health issues globally.
By starting with posture correction and body alignment, MotionDEV demonstrates that medical-grade data can be captured without hospitals or intermediaries, while simultaneously building the foundational dataset for more complex motion and health analytics, from athletic performance to physical rehabilitation.
DeSci: The Next Frontier After DeFi
If DeFi gave people ownership over their money, DeSci will give them ownership over their knowledge and data.
DeSci aims to rebuild how research is funded, shared, and validated, turning what’s locked behind institutional paywalls into open, verifiable, and incentivized collaboration.
Florin draws a clear parallel:
“In finance, DeFi broke the monopoly of banks.
In science, DeSci will break the monopoly of data.”
Through MotionDEV’s infrastructure, researchers, AI developers, and startups can access anonymized, permissioned datasets, paying in $MDEV, while users retain ownership and earn ongoing rewards.
It’s the same participatory model that made DeFi unstoppable, now applied to one of humanity’s most critical frontiers: health.
Building With Pineapple Express
MotionDEV is the first-ever launch on Pineapple Express, Pineapple’s new launchpad designed for real technology, real founders, and real community-driven value.
“We had over 50 projects apply,” Ali recalls. “But MotionDEV stood out because it’s real. There’s hardware, AI, blockchain integration, and a mission that matters.”
For Florin, the decision was easy:
“You’re not just a launchpad, you’re partners in the trenches,” he says.
“Your team wrote over 100 pages of go-to-market strategy, refined our narrative, and aligned with our vision. No other platform approaches it like that.”
What also drew MotionDEV to Pineapple was shared ethos:
- Fair Launch, No VC Control
- Full Transparency & Long-Term Support
- Aligned Interests Between Project and Community
“If MotionDEV succeeds, Pineapple succeeds and the community succeeds. That’s the alignment we believe in,” Florin adds.
What’s Next: From Prototype to Protocol
The roadmap ahead is bold but structured:
- Phase 0 Foundation: Hardware prototype, AI integration, onchain architecture (✅ completed).
- Phase 1 Miniaturized Hardware: Wireless, wearable, real-time connectivity.
- Phase 2 Data for Token Pilots: Users can upload external data (from Apple Health, Oura, Whoop) and earn MDEV.
- Phase 3 Private Alpha: Early adopters, ambassadors, and stakers get access to first live product.
- Phase 4 Public Beta: Data wallet, staking, governance, and research marketplace go live.
Alongside product development, MotionDEV will onboard medical professionals for data labeling, athletes as ambassadors, and top-tier research institutions like Harvard and Oxford for ecosystem collaboration.
The Alpha: What’s Coming Next
Before wrapping up, we asked Floren to share a glimpse of what’s next.
“We’re planning a sister initiative at Oxford - a continuation of our work with Harvard’s AI for Wellness cohort,” he revealed.
“We’re also in early discussions with major wearable companies like Whoop and exploring future partnerships with big tech players like Google. But it all depends on one thing: execution.”
Final Thoughts
Healthcare has always been a closed system - profit-driven, data-hoarding, and exclusionary. MotionDEV is opening it up. By giving people the ability to own, control, and earn from their health data, it’s not just participating in DeSci,it’s powering it.
For Pineapple, this partnership is more than a launch - it’s a statement of intent.
We’re building where DeFi meets DeSci, where transparency meets impact, and where every line of code builds toward a healthier, fairer future.
Stay close over the coming weeks as we reveal MotionDEV’s tokenomics, AI system architecture, and official launch date for $MDEV, the token that rewards you for taking control of your health.
